I've been running Windows 10 here since it was first released on two machines one Home, one Professional, both bit. Microsoft has never done any of that on either one, and I've never done a fresh install on either one.
I've also never had corrupted files, drivers, nor applications. You say "Perhaps your usage of Microsoft and Windows allows you to just leave everything the way it is and be happy with what they give you, but that doesn't always work for everyone.
I'm happy with some things about Windows, but not all. But the same thing is true about every product I use, not just Windows. Nothing is perfect, at least not to me. I would make changes to just about every piece of software I use, my car, my TV set, my telephone, my ISP service, etc. I choose what I buy and what I use based on what I think comes closest to my ideals and what I can afford. I think everyone should do the same.
